Lapo Magni - Guestchef
GUEST CHEF // Lapo grew up in Florence, where his parents ran the iconic restaurant La Baraonda. By 16, he was already at the stove, learning the language of Tuscan food from his mother and paging through century-old cookbooks. But his story isn’t just Italian. At 19, he packed a single suitcase, flew to Cape Town, and started blending South African ingredients with his Tuscan roots, what he calls “Afro-Italian” cuisine.
After winning Italy’s prime-time cooking show La Terra dei Cuochi, Lapo chose not to chase celebrity kitchens. Instead, he returned to Cape Town to start Lapo’s Kitchen a long-table dining experience built on organic, locally sourced produce, shared plates, and his famously warm, eccentric Italian hosting.
These days, his craft has evolved into immersive culinary events — meals where flavors meet music, art, and scent in a way that feels more like theatre than dinner. At Campfire Stories, Lapo will host and curate one of our shared meals, bringing his soulful, sensory, and unforgettable style to the fire.
